２０２５年９月２９日から１２月１９日、シンガポール・テマセクポリテクニックから２ 名の短期留学生を受け入れました。この期間中、2名の留学生は幾つかの研究室で課題に 取り組みながら、本校の教員や学生と積極的に交流を深めました。また、学内の国際交流 イベント International Café & ICP (International Communication Platform）にも参加し、本校在学中の他の留学生たちとも交流し、多様な文化に触れる機会を楽しんでいま した。本校の学生たちも、留学生たちとの交流を通して他の国の価値観や考え方を知る貴 重な機会となり、グローバルな感性を育むとても良い機会になりました。

以下、蒋研究室 所属の2名の学生の体験談『北九州高専での経験』と『文化交流』の部分を和訳してご紹介します。

Tan Wan Yenさん (Cybersecurity & Digital Forensics)

【Project】

The project that I worked on was “Routing Plan in Car Navigation System”. Our professor provided geospatial data of the Kitakyushu map, and my first task was to understand, restructure, and normalise the raw dataset into a usable Excel format. This was challenging at first because I had limited experience working with real-world map data, but I saw it as an opportunity to expand my technical skills beyond cybersecurity. Working with a large geospatial dataset was very different from the structured security data I am used to, but this difference became a valuable learning experience. I had the opportunity to explore how a real-world map data is organised and how nodes, links, road types, elevations, and speed codes connect to form a full navigation network, and I gradually grew to enjoy understanding this new type of dataset. Through this project, I developed several technical skills that complement my cybersecurity background. I became more confident in using Python and Pandas for data cleaning and normalizing fields with accuracy and consistency and I learned how important data quality for downstream systems Just like cybersecurity tools rely on reliable logs, routing algorithms require precise and well-structured inputs to produce correct results.

【北九州高専での経験】

北九州高専での経験は、私のイン ターンシップの中でも特に充実したものでした。私はサイバーセキュリティを専門としていますが、ロボティクス、工学、情報分野のプロジェクトに取り組む学生たちと共に学ぶ、学際的な環境に身を置くことができました。この経験を通じて、さまざまな技術がどのように連携し、現実世界の課題解決につながっているのかを実感しました。 教職員や 学生の皆さんはとても温かく迎えてくださり、担当教員もプロジェクトを通して丁寧に指導してくださいました。ナビゲーションシステムのプロジェクトは私の専門分野とは異なっていましたが、オープンで協力的な議論のおかげで、無理なく理解し、適応すること ができました。北九州高専での活動を通じて、自身の専門分野にとどまらず学び続けることの重要性を強く感じました。 また、日本人学生の規律正しく、細部にまでこだわる作業姿勢から多くのことを学びました。より良い成果を目指して何度もアイデアを磨き上げ る姿勢は、特に自分のスクリプトを改善する際の姿勢として大きな刺激になりました。さらに、彼らのチームワークやコミュニケーションの取り方から、異文化間で協働することについて新たな気づきを得ることができました。

Zhai Jingxuanさん (Cybersecurity & digital forensics)

【About our project】

Tasked by Professor Jiang, my project was about building a car navigation routing system that weighs cost, distance, and tolls. Through this work, I gained a deeper understanding of multi-objective route optimization and how different priorities can change what “best route” truly means for different users. As a cybersecurity student, I have little to no experience in data analytics and software developing. Joining this project was initially extremely difficult for me as I had to learn unfamiliar concepts from scratch and understand different algorithms and the functionality of them. However, with the help of my professor and other KOSEN students, we was able to create an satisfactorily product. Overall, this project strengthened both my technical confidence and my product thinking, especially in designing systems that are not only accurate and efficient but also trustworthy and secure.

【文化交流】

この数か月間は、私にとって本当に意義深く、忘れられない時間でした。学校の外でも皆さんと一緒に過ごし、出かけたり、食事をしたり、旅行に参加したりしたことで、日本での日々は温かく、活気に満ち、思い出あふれるものとなりました。短い期間ではありましたがバドミントン部にも参加し、楽しみながら自然な形で多くの人と交流する ことができました。皆さんがとても親しみやすく、温かく迎えてくださったことに心から感謝しています。 私が何よりも大切に感じているのは、ここで築いた友情です。さまざまな経験を楽しんだだけでなく、食事を共にしたり、外出先で会話をしたり、一緒に笑って過ごしたりする何気ない瞬間を通して、日本の日常文化についても深く学ぶことができ ました。皆さんのおかげで、私は決して「よそ者」だと感じることはありませんでした。 それどころか、受け入れられ、理解され、ここの一員として過ごせたことを本当に幸運に 思っています。学生の皆さん、そして教職員の方々から受けた温かいおもてなしに心から 感謝しています。ここでの経験を決して忘れません。
